Bottarga, which is run by two of my friends- Tal Fahima and Priel Shabo, is located at The Carmel Market in Tel Aviv. They wanted to open a restaurant that serves authentic Moroccan food as their grandmothers did. The name "Bottarga" comes from the sea world and refers to fish eggs that are soaked and dried in salt. Its most famous version is found in the Mediterranean. As with the Bottarga eggs, which are known for their simplicity, the owners of the Bottarga stand wanted to create a place where you could gather, eat and drink something that would bring you joy and contentment, but with a high level of food and aesthetic derived from local ingredients.
When I was asked to help them with their social media accounts, I automatically knew what I would photograph- the simple things. They were not necessarily the most beautiful or luxurious, but rather the things that fill you with joy and satisfaction. There is a story behind everything, whether it's a fruit plate, a napkin holder, or a grandmother's tablecloth. A story that everyone can relate to on some level, a story that needs to be told.
Bottarga is located at Rabbi Akiva 20 Street, Tel Aviv-Yafo. For more information check out their Instagram page.
